May 5, 2010 Open Executive Committee Meeting (hosted at EWU)

Bookmark and Share

Hello, All

What a deal ! We had an Open Executive Committee Meeting. The reason we had an open Exec Committee meeting is because we invited students from Lewis and Clark High School and from Eastern Washington University. Also, this meeting was open to the public, and we had a few guests attending as well.

Pizza was served, and we had enough for everyone !

Lewis and Clark High Robotics Club High School Presentation

It was a fun night; we learned that the Lewis and Clark students have had a successful trip to Seattle where they presented their project by competing with other schools, including the high school robotics clubs from other countries.  I was looking at those high school kids and fully appreciated the level of maturity, leadership and organization. Of course, their parents must get credit for this achievement as well !

We are proud to have it

They also granted our IEEE Spokane Chapter a big “Thank You Sponsor ” poster with their signatures which will be stored at EWU.

You are interested in in LC Robotics Club activities – join them at the event this Saturday, May 8, at West Valley High School, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Meeting with the EWU Student Branch

Our EWU IEEE Students are working on a project, and it is a great project to start with ! They are also having be-weekly meetings and regular field trips. I liked

their enthusiasm and dedication !

If you are interested in the activities of the EWU IEEE Student branch  – follow the link “EWU Student Branch”

After this meeting I happily concluded that w hen I retire – there will be engineers to replace me. What a great thought!

Tour Description:

A tour of the Lab-Volt lab in the Paccar Center will be held at 7:00 PM.  This will be followed by a tour of the ZagOps Center in the Herak Center.

According to gonzaga.edu, the Lab-Volt power simulators allow students to simulate power system behavior under both normal and fault conditions. The Gonzaga University PACCAR Center for Applied Science is an advanced laboratory for robotics and artificial vision research.

The ZagOps Center is used for training power system operators in the Electrical Grid Operations course that is a part of Gonzaga’s Transmission and Distribution Program.
