Starting a GOLD Affinity Group

Bookmark and Share

We at the Spokane Section are working to develop our membership.  To do this we are developing ways that will make the Section relevant to our members and from there make IEEE in general relative.

One of the activities that I believe will help with this is the formation of a GOLD Affinity group within the IEEE Spokane Section. GOLD is an aconym for Graduates Of the Last Decade, it is less a techincal group and more of a social group that was developed by IEEE to help young professionals succeed in their choosen career paths.

GOLD meetings are typically more relaxed and are targeted toward career development, networking and helping people make life decisions that suit professionals such as us.  When you first graduate it you are basically thrown to the wolves, and GOLD strives to help lessen this impact.

So, if you have graduated after 2000, I am looking for your help.  I need 6 signatures of IEEE members to get this started.  I am planning to have our first event downtown Spokane one evening to get to know each other and determine what everyone wants to get out of it.

If you are interested in being a Charter member please contact me at jeffery.mackinnon@ieee.org and I will see about getting your John Hancock on the piece of paper.
